  • View from the ferry.

Our ship, Independence of the Sea from the ferry.

Dinner on the ship with my two sisters-in-law (ex).

I climbed to the top and came down carefully. These are Mexican Mayan ruins.

  • WOMEN??

What are we thinking?  I must explain that I am a product of the 60's and around when the feminist movement was going strong.  We didn't want to be questioned on job interviews about pregnacy, who will care for the kids, what happens if husband is transferred etc.  Now I see "women" asking those types of questions to Sara Palin!  News women who must not have encountered the issues I did when I tried getting a job right out of college.  They benefited from our trials and suffering and now are dishing it out to "women".  It boggles the mind how we think this is right.  Forget fair - it is beyond the bounds of fair.  I even hear the "men" coming to Sara Palin's defense - not the women!  Women who defend the right to choice but belittle Palin for making a choice.  Women who are critical of her "mothering skills" yet have never been held under the limelight for their choices.

Yes, I must say I am mystified and rather ashamed of us! We must think we are defending the right to choice but are losing so many other rights in the process.   Sara Palin should only be held accountable for her public political accomplishments, not her personal private life.

The women of this generation have not learned the art of teaming as a political force or any force.  I believe I have said it before that too many women are vindictive and hateful to each other which will only work against us and lead us backwards in the women's rights issues and not forward.

  • CHANGE

Politics and change.  Well we sure have plenty of it from both sides.  Dems have lots of talk and Rep have some actions behind their talk.  I was a Hillary supporter and believe she would have been the best choice for the Dem party.  I am also a feminist and will admit my bias toward the female leader.  Now we have Gov Sara Palin as the Rep VP choice.  What a surprise to all and many aren't taking it too well.  They are the ones who ignore her accomplishments and focus on her favorite dish!  I must have missed it.  Was that brought up about the other candidates?  Is that a new criteria for the office?  Well it is really getting interesting now.
